NITRC — Neuroimaging Informatics Tools and Resources Clearinghouse
Overview
NITRC is a free, NIH-funded web collaboratory for the neuroimaging community, launched in 2007 through the NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research. It serves as the primary registry and distribution hub for neuroimaging analysis software, covering MRI, PET, MEG/EEG, optical imaging, and computational neuroscience. Researchers use it to discover, compare, download, and discuss neuroimaging tools, with over 800 registered tools and resources.
NITRC operates three complementary services. NITRC-R (Resource Registry) is the tool and software registry, where each tool has its own project page with documentation, downloads, bug tracking, and forums. NITRC-IR (Image Repository) is an XNAT-based image data sharing system for structural, diffusion, and resting-state MRI datasets. NITRC-CE (Computational Environment) is a cloud-based analysis environment on Amazon Web Services with popular neuroimaging tools pre-installed (FreeSurfer, FSL, SPM, AFNI, etc.).
