bio.tools
Overview
bio.tools is the ELIXIR registry of bioinformatics software tools, databases, and web services, providing structured, community-curated descriptions using a standardised metadata schema. Launched in 2015 and operated by the ELIXIR Tools Platform with the ELIXIR-DK node at the University of Southern Denmark as lead, it assigns persistent identifiers (biotools IDs) to registered resources and uses the EDAM ontology to annotate tool function, input and output data types, and relevant topics. As of 2024, bio.tools indexes over 30,000 tools and databases across all life science disciplines. The vault is itself registered in bio.tools under the identifier biotools:open_neuroscience_graph.
