ALBA Network
Overview
The ALBA Network is a global initiative promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the brain sciences. Founded in 2019 and operating as a division of FENS, with IBRO and SfN as co-founding partners, it works to counteract bias and support scientists from underrepresented groups through professional development, mentoring, awards, and policy advocacy. Its primary normative output is the ALBA Declaration on Equity and Inclusion, a resource of concrete, evidence-based actions that individuals and organisations can adopt to foster more equitable work environments. As of 2025, the Declaration had been endorsed by over 239 organisations and 850 individuals.
