C-BIG — Clinical Biospecimen Imaging and Genetic Repository
Overview
C-BIG (Clinical Biospecimen Imaging and Genetic Repository) is the institutional open science data repository of the Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital (The Neuro) at McGill University, collecting clinical, neuroimaging, genomic, and biospecimen data from patients with neurological diseases and healthy controls. It was developed following The Neuro’s declaration as an Open Science organization in January 2016, launched internally in 2019, and made publicly accessible in November 2020 via LORIS. The repository provides two access tiers: registered access requiring a data access agreement, and a fully open data tier for unrestricted reuse. It serves as a working model for institution-level open data sharing in neuroscience, integrating multimodal datasets from across The Neuro’s research programs into a single queryable platform.
