madbot — Metadata And Data Brokering Online Tool

Overview

madbot (Metadata And Data Brokering Online Tool) is a web application for research data and metadata management, developed and operated by IFB (ELIXIR-FR) and publicly launched in January 2026. It guides researchers through structured, FAIR Principles-compliant data publication, automating metadata organisation and quality checking while remaining accessible to users without technical expertise. Its architecture is based on the ISA (Investigation, Study, Assay) standard, enabling connectors with a broad range of research tools and platforms including OMERO, Galaxy, electronic lab notebooks, and file storage systems. madbot integrates directly with Zenodo and ENA for data submission to open repositories, and is designed to be extensible to additional repositories and metadata standards.
