Genome of the Netherlands
Overview
The Genome of the Netherlands (GoNL) project characterised whole-genome sequence variation in the Dutch population using a trio design. It sequenced 769 individuals from 250 parent-offspring trios, drawn from five Dutch biobanks including the Netherlands Twin Register and the Rotterdam Study. The trio design let researchers distinguish genuine genetic variants from sequencing errors, by checking inheritance from parent to offspring. GoNL ran under BBMRI-NL, the Dutch national node of BBMRI-ERIC, as a consortium of five Dutch medical centres, with results published in 2013.
Access
Individual-level genotype and sequence data are available through EGA under controlled access.
