NORBRAIN — Norwegian Brain Initiative
Overview
NORBRAIN is the Research Council of Norway-funded national neuroscience infrastructure programme that coordinates open data infrastructure and advanced neurotechnology access across Norwegian neuroscience, and established Norway’s national node of the EBRAINS European brain research infrastructure in 2025. It has run in successive funding periods since 2011 (NORBRAIN1 through NORBRAIN4), with three institutional hubs at NTNU, the University of Oslo, and the University of Bergen. NORBRAIN4 (2025–2027) carries an 80.3 MNOK grant, and the Norwegian INCF Node operative since 2006 is now integrated into the EBRAINS Norway structure.
