SIB — Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics
Overview
The SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics is Switzerland’s ELIXIR node (ELIXIR-CH) and operates several ELIXIR Core Data Resources directly relevant to neuroscience, most notably Bgee, a cross-species gene expression database with an extensive brain component. It is a non-profit federation of approximately 65 bioinformatics research and service groups across 19 national institutions, founded in 1998. SIB also coordinates the Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN) and operates BioMedIT, Switzerland’s national Trusted Research Environment for sensitive health data, including the Swiss node of the Federated European Genome-phenome Archive.
