SWC — Sainsbury Wellcome Centre

Overview

The Sainsbury Wellcome Centre is a systems neuroscience research institute at University College London that operates an explicit mandate to share all data, analysis code, and experimental protocols publicly alongside publications, and is the home institution of the BrainGlobe Initiative, a widely used open-source Python toolkit for computational neuroanatomy providing atlas registration, cell detection, and a cross-species Atlas API. It opened in 2016, jointly funded by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation and Wellcome, with research programmes spanning electrophysiology, calcium imaging, optogenetics, and computational modelling.
