foundingGIDE — Global Image Data Ecosystem

Overview

foundingGIDE is a funded international project coordinated by Euro-BioImaging, launched in 2024 to lay the technical and governance foundations for a Global Image Data Ecosystem (GIDE) that connects biological and biomedical image data resources across Europe, Australia, and Japan. It aims to develop common metadata standards, interoperability frameworks, and shared discovery mechanisms that allow image data resources to exchange metadata and make datasets findable across institutional and continental boundaries. The project is designed as a scalable blueprint for engaging the broader global bioimage data community and strengthening FAIR data infrastructure for biological imaging as a whole.
