CURE-ND — Catalysing a United Response in Europe to Neurodegenerative Diseases

Overview

CURE-ND is a European alliance of four leading non-profit neurodegenerative disease research institutes, launched in 2020 to accelerate scientific discovery and advocate for long-term European investment in brain research. The four founding members are DZNE (German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases, Germany), Paris Brain Institute (Institut du Cerveau / ICM, France), Mission Lucidity (imec / KU Leuven / VIB / UZ Leuven, Belgium), and UK DRI (UK Dementia Research Institute, UK). Together the four institutes represent more than 2,000 researchers across the continent.

Mission and Activities

Research Collaboration

CURE-ND facilitates knowledge exchange across the four partner institutes through joint scientific symposia on topics including clinical trials, digital biomarkers, single-cell approaches, and AI/ML for neurodegeneration, and a shared ECR training programme.

ECR Programme

CURE-ND runs an annual workshop for Early Career Researchers from all four institutes, rotating between member locations, bringing together up to 80 delegates per event for talks, posters, and career development sessions.

Advocacy

CURE-ND advocates jointly to European institutions and funders for long-term, coordinated investment in neurodegenerative disease research, calling for increased Horizon Europe budgets and a coherent European brain health strategy.
