Mission Lucidity

Overview

Mission Lucidity is a Belgian interdisciplinary research consortium founded in 2018 with the mission to decode dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases. It brings together four Leuven-based founding partners: imec (nanoelectronics and digital technology), KU Leuven (research university), VIB (Flanders Institute for Biotechnology), and UZ Leuven (University Hospital). Mission Lucidity is a founding member of the CURE-ND alliance.

Research Approach

Mission Lucidity’s programme rests on three pillars. Nanoscale technologies applies imec’s nanoelectronics expertise to neural recording, brain-computer interfaces, and diagnostic biosensors. Human disease studies covers clinical research at UZ Leuven and KU Leuven on symptoms, biomarkers, and disease processes in Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and ALS. Brain activity modulation bridges cellular-level and systems-level understanding of neurodegeneration.

Open Science Context

As a CURE-ND member, Mission Lucidity participates in shared ECR training, joint scientific workshops, and cross-institutional data and expertise exchange with DZNE, Paris Brain Institute, and UK DRI.
