VIB — Flanders Institute for Biotechnology
Overview
VIB is a Flemish life sciences research institute, founded in 1995, whose neuroscience centres produce large-scale neurological disease genomics datasets openly deposited to EGA, CELLxGENE, and dbSNP, and which leads the Belgian ELIXIR node (ELIXIR-BE). It is funded by the Flemish Government with approximately 1,500 scientists across six research centres in Ghent, Leuven, Antwerp, and Brussels. Its neuroscience-relevant output is primarily generated by the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Neuroscience and the VIB-UAntwerp Center for Molecular Neurology. VIB co-founded Mission Lucidity, the Belgian neurotechnology consortium targeting neurodegeneration.
