France Génomique

Overview

France Génomique is the French national genomics infrastructure, funded through the Investissements d’Avenir programme and coordinated under the INBS umbrella. Founded in 2012, it federates the major genomic sequencing and genotyping platforms across France, providing high-throughput sequencing capacity, bioinformatics support, and access to national genomics services for academic research teams.

Role in the French Ecosystem

France Génomique sits at the intersection of sequencing infrastructure and open data policy. Member platforms are expected to follow ANR Open Science Policy data sharing requirements, depositing sequencing data in open archives (ENA, NCBI GEO) or controlled-access repositories (EGA) depending on data sensitivity. France Génomique coordinates with IFB on bioinformatics workflows and FAIR data management, and participates in the broader INBS strategy for integrating French national platforms into European infrastructures.
