RDMkit — ELIXIR Research Data Management Toolkit
Overview
RDMkit is ELIXIR’s open online resource providing practical guidance, best practices, and tool recommendations for research data management in the life sciences. Originally developed as part of the EOSC-Life project (2019–2023) and now maintained by ELIXIR, it covers every stage of the data lifecycle from planning and collecting through to preserving and reusing data. It serves as the practical implementation guide for FAIR Principles in life sciences research, translating abstract requirements into concrete decisions about formats, repositories, and metadata standards. For French researchers, the national page maintained by IFB maps these recommendations to French infrastructure including OPIDoR, HAL, and Recherche Data Gouv.
Structure
RDMkit can be navigated by role (principal investigator, data steward, researcher, IT staff), by life science domain (bioimaging, genomics, human data, rare diseases), and by country (national pages with local tools and contacts). Tool Assembly pages combine these into complete RDM workflows for specific contexts, such as the complete French life sciences data management workflow maintained by IFB.
