JATOS — Just Another Tool for Online Studies
Overview
JATOS (Just Another Tool for Online Studies) is an open-source server application for hosting and managing online behavioural studies. Researchers deploy browser-based experiment scripts built in frameworks such as jsPsych or PsychoPy to a JATOS instance, which handles participant access links, session management, data collection, and result export. Unlike proprietary hosting platforms, JATOS is self-hostable on institutional infrastructure and fully open source, making it well suited to research contexts requiring data sovereignty and open reproducibility. It integrates with OSF for direct export of collected results to open research repositories.
