NeuroML — Neural Open Markup Language
Overview
NeuroML is a community standard for describing biologically detailed computational models of neurons and neural networks in an XML-based, simulator-independent format. Conceived in 2001 and now in its NeuroML2 version, it covers neuronal morphology, ion channel dynamics, synaptic mechanisms, and network-level connectivity between cells and populations, enabling models to be shared and reproduced across different simulation tools. It is developed by the NeuroML Editorial Board, overseen by a Scientific Committee, and endorsed by INCF.
