EDPB — European Data Protection Board
Overview
The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) is the independent EU body established by GDPR Article 68 to ensure consistent application of data protection rules across the European Economic Area. It comprises the national data protection authorities of all EU Member States and the European Data Protection Supervisor. The EDPB issues binding decisions in cross-border cases where national supervisory authorities disagree, and non-binding guidelines, recommendations, and opinions on the interpretation and application of GDPR and related instruments including the EHDS. Its guidelines on health data processing, scientific research exemptions, and secondary use of health data are directly relevant to neuroscience data sharing infrastructure across the EU.
