GT-GeDeM — Groupe de Travail Gestion des Données en Microscopie
Overview
GT-GeDeM (Gestion des Données en Microscopie) is a working group of the RTmfm (Réseau Technologique Microscopie Fluorescence Multidimensionnelle), the French CNRS technological network for optical microscopy. RTmfm itself is funded by CNRS MITI and brings together microscopy platform personnel, researchers, and engineers across France involved in the development and use of optical microscopy. GT-GeDeM’s specific mandate is to facilitate the transition towards FAIR-compliant microscopy data management in French imaging platforms.
Mandate and Objectives
GT-GeDeM works from the principle that correct and complete annotation of data and metadata is fundamental for scientific traceability, underpins peer review, guarantees reproducibility, and positions data as a reusable resource. Its four objectives are to survey the needs and solutions already in place at different imaging platforms across France; to develop guidelines for harmonised, complete FAIR annotation of microscopy data and for assembling Data Management Plans; to provide guidance on informatics tools and infrastructure solutions for microscopy data management; and to organise training around data management solutions dedicated to imaging platform staff.
Context within RTmfm
GT-GeDeM is one of several working groups within RTmfm. The WG-Quality Control / GT-3M covers metrology and QC and is connected to QUAREP-LiMi. GT-MAIIA addresses AI methods for image analysis. GT-Expansion covers expansion microscopy. GT-Transparisation covers tissue clearing. RTmfm partners with France BioImaging and GDR Imabio for the annual Assises des plateformes d’Imagerie gathering of French microscopy platform staff.
