Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour
Overview
The Donders Institute at Radboud University (Nijmegen, Netherlands) is a neuroscience institute with approximately 800 researchers across four centres covering cognitive neuroimaging, neuroscience, cognition, and language. It has been an early adopter of institutional open data practices, operating its own data repository (now merged into the Radboud Data Repository) and mandating data sharing for all publications. It is a major contributor to EBRAINS, a key BIDS adopter, and a frequent collaborator in ENIGMA Consortium working groups.
Four Centres
- Donders Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging (DCCN) covers MEG, EEG, and fMRI (3T, 7T).
- Donders Centre for Neuroscience (DCN) covers cellular and systems neuroscience.
- Donders Centre for Cognition (DCC) covers cognitive science and AI.
- Donders Centre for Medical Neuroscience (DCMN) covers clinical neuroscience.
Open Science Practices
- The Radboud Data Repository (RDR) is the institutional open data repository for all Donders datasets, FAIR-compliant with persistent DOIs. The original Donders Repository was merged into the RDR in November 2023.
- Mandatory data sharing policy applies to all publications from the institute.
- Dedicated data management and research data stewardship support staff are in place.
- Active contribution to BIDS specification and tooling.
- FieldTrip is an open-source MEG/EEG/iEEG analysis toolbox developed at Donders with native BIDS support and active contributions to BIDS extension proposals for electrophysiology.
