ADNI — Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative
Overview
ADNI is a longitudinal multicenter study tracking MRI, PET, biomarkers, clinical, and genetic data across the Alzheimer’s disease spectrum. Launched in 2004 and now in its fourth phase (ADNI4), it is a widely used open resource for Alzheimer’s disease research.
Key Outputs
- ADNI has enrolled over 2,000 participants across phases ADNI1, GO, 2, 3, and 4 as of 2024.
- Data types include MRI, amyloid, tau, and FDG PET, CSF, genetics, and cognitive data.
- Imaging protocols are harmonised across North American sites.
Access
Data are distributed through the LONI Image and Data Archive. Access requires free registration and approval of a data use agreement, with each study phase maintaining its own access conditions. There is no cost to researchers.
